Claypaky Buddylight

Followspots have changed very little from the time they were introduced more than 100 years ago, save for the light source going from carbon arc to xenon and HMI to LED

Now, entertainment lighting manufacturers are using technology to change the way we operate these units, moving away from manual pan, tilt, color change, zoom, and focus to remote operation or automatic tracking. Some systems still rely on an operator to follow a subject remotely, using cameras and display monitors with the option to remotely select color, gobo, zoom, and focus; others use fully automatic tracking with sensors worn by the subject.
