Entertainment Electrics Online is the complete course that includes a series of videos presented by ETCP Recognized Trainer Richard Cadena. Each of the 72 videos is a 10- to 15-minute presentation and covers a single topic related to live event production electrics, followed by a short quiz to test your knowledge and retention. Part 1 covers DC electricity, terminology, basic circuits, Ohm's law, DC power, AC electricity, impedance, AC power, phase angles, power factor, 3-phase power, harmonics, and more. Part 2 covers electrical safety and practical aspects of power distribution for the live event industry, including imminent danger, human reaction to electrical current, lockout/tagout, arc flash, arc blast, boundaries of protection, categories of meters, codes and regulations, portable power generators, transformers, HMTs, grounding, enclosure ratings, over current protection, GFCIs, and more. Part 3 covers digital electronics, DMX512-A, Remote Device Management, Streaming ACN, wireless DMX, WiFi, fiber optics, Ethernet, TCP/IP, and more. Additional resources are also offered, such as video, reading material, and web pages.

Entertainment Electrics is a two-day course covering almost all of the topics listed in the content outline of the ETCP Entertainment Electrician Certification exam (except for control systems) and the ETCP Portable Power Distribution Technician certification exam. It is organized in a very logical way in order to accommodate a range of skills and experience. It starts with basic electricity, circuit laws, and theory, and it builds towards more advanced topics including power distribution, power factor, and harmonics, with an emphasis on electrical safety, the use of PPE, codes and regulations, grounding and bonding, and GFCIs.

This course covers topics that are listed as being in the content outline for the ETCP Entertainment Electrician Certification Exam and the ETCP Portable Power Distribution Certification Exam. If you are already ETCP certified, it counts as 14 recertification credits for Entertainment Electricians, Portable Power Distribution Technicians, Arena Riggers, and Theatre Riggers.
