Even as LEDs proliferate, there’s still room for an older technology
OSRAM says it is committed to manufacturing tungsten halogen lamps, including the HPL, indefinitely.
In the early days of LED stage lighting, fixtures were nothing like they are now. LED light engines rendered skin tones poorly, they would blink off instead of fading out smoothly, and even the shadows they produced looked odd because manufacturers hadn’t figured out how to homogenize light emanating from LED arrays.
